Brief Summary of Protocol:




Detailed Description of Protocol:
Participants will be asked to donate 50-250mls (3 to 9 tablespoons) of blood.

Other adults and children will be asked to donate the smaller of either 50mls (~3 tablespoons) or 3 ml/kg, no more frequently than two times per week over an eight week period.

You may also be asked to provide a urine sample collected over a 12-24 hour period and/or a single "spot" urine sample collected at the time of your visit.

Healthy Volunteers

OR

Patients with kidney disease and/or hypertension

Potential Benefits.....
You will not receive any direct benefit from participating in this study.

You will be helping us:
(1) carry out our routine QC practices in the clinical research laboratory

(2) better understand how endotoxin stimulates blood cells and

(3) discover new markers for disease or disease risk.



Compensation:
There is no cost to you for being in this research study.

Compensation for you time will be provided:

- $15.00 for up to 50 mls of blood drawn

- $15.00 for each additional increment of 50 mls

- No additional funds will be paid for the urine sample.
