Brief Summary of Protocol:
Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease, which causes pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints. Most patients with rheumatoid arthritis experience unpredictable flares of their arthritis over time. Flares are painful and they make it difficult for patients to get to work and turn every day tasks into struggles. No one knows what causes flares and so there are very few treatment options available for this problem. The goal of this study is to recruit patients with rheumatoid arthritis and monitor them for flare. This will involve monthly clinic visits with a board certified rheumatologist and weekly questionnaires and finger pricks mailed from home. You will be reimbursed for your time and effort. We hope to identify what changes occur in the blood as a flare develops, so in the future, we can develop treatments that specifically target these.
